A New York resident is seeking damages and legal action against Coinbase and Stake platforms, claiming the companies facilitated underage gambling through a coordinated pipeline. The plaintiff says he used Stake.com and Primedice from ages 13 through 19, exhausting his savings and turning to his father’s credit card after running out of money. He claims this led to academic failure, strained family relationships, and the need for ongoing therapy and financial oversight from his father.
The lawsuit names Coinbase as a central enabler, alleging the exchange allowed users to convert dollars into cryptocurrency and send funds to offshore gambling accounts. It says Coinbase ignored warning signs and continued processing gambling-related transactions despite New York restrictions. The plaintiff also claims Stake-related companies used influencer marketing and livestreams to target minors.
The case seeks damages and injunctive relief under New York common law and consumer protection statutes. A jury trial has been demanded.
