Mortgage-Backed Home Sales Surge 35.9% in Türkiye as Overall Market Slows
Mortgage-backed home sales in Türkiye surged 35.9% in March, reaching 25,978 units, or 22.9% of total transactions. This rise in borrowing activity came as overall home sales fell 2.1% year-on-year to 113,367 units. New home sales rose 1.3% to 35,725 units, but second-hand sales dropped 3.6% to 77,642 units. Sales to foreign buyers fell 20% to 1,353 units, with the decline potentially linked to regional instability following the Middle East conflict. Total house sales in the first quarter of the year stood at 349,396 units, a 0.3% decline from the same period in 2025.
