A $50 annual credit for Capital One Business Travel bookings and up to a $50 annual statement credit for qualifying advertising or software purchases now help offset the card's $95 annual fee. The Capital One Spark Miles for Business has rebranded as the Capital One Venture Business.

Capital One Shopping offers up to 45% back on select TripAdvisor bookings

A cash-back return of 45% or a credit of 35X miles can offset price inflation for bookings made through TripAdvisor. These targeted offers are available for today, April 13, 2026, via Capital One Shopping and Capital One credit card accounts. The promotion is restricted to Hotel instant Booking and Experiences/Things to Do on Tripadvisor.com. It excludes restaurants, vacation rentals, flights, cars, theme parks, cruises, and specific tickets for attractions such as Walt Disney World and the San Diego Zoo. Purchases made using Tripadvisor Plus are ineligible. Bookings may track as ineligible until travel is completed.

The card continues to offer a $120 statement credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every four years. It earns 2X miles on all purchases and 5X miles on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Business Travel.

Amex Platinum shifts travel value from lounge access to booking discounts

Savings on flight bookings now extend to select domestic economy fares for eligible American Express Platinum cardholders. The benefit, known as Platinum Member Airfares, replaces the previous International Airline Program and Recommended Flights. To access the discounts, cardmembers must book through AmexTravel.com. The savings apply to the cardmember and up to seven additional travelers on the same reservation. This expansion comes as American Express removes a physical perk. After October 1, 2026, the Amex Platinum, Business Platinum, and Centurion cards will no longer grant entry to Lufthansa Lounges. Cardholders will lose the ability to access these lounges when flying same-day with the carrier.

New cardholders can earn a total of 150,000 bonus miles. The first 75,000 miles are awarded after spending $7,500 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. An additional 75,000 miles are awarded after spending $30,000 in the first six months. When redeemed at a rate of 1 cent per mile, the full welcome bonus is worth $1,500 in travel.

High Earners Can Move Up to $55,000 Annually Into Tax-Free Roth Accounts

A high earner can move up to roughly $55,000 or more into Roth-equivalent accounts in a single year. This is possible by combining the Mega Backdoor Roth and the standard backdoor Roth IRA. The standard backdoor Roth IRA allows for contributions of $7,500, or $8,600 for those age 50 and older, regardless of income level. The Mega Backdoor Roth operates within the gap between the $24,500 elective deferral limit for 401(k) plans and the $72,000 overall annual limit on total employee and employer contributions for 2026. This strategy requires an employer plan that allows after-tax contributions and either in-service withdrawals to a Roth IRA or in-plan Roth conversions. After-tax dollars are filled into that gap and then rolled into Roth accounts for tax-free growth. A participant who uses both strategies simultaneously can move the maximum amount allowed by the IRS limits for 2026.
