Trump Accounts Provide $1,000 Seed Funding for Children Born 2025-2028
Children born between 2025 and 2028 will receive an initial $1,000 government contribution to a tax-deferred savings account. Private companies and philanthropists have pledged to match or supplement these deposits. The funding is provided through 'Trump accounts,' created under President Donald Trump's economic legislation. All children under 18 with Social Security numbers can open these accounts. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated the government contribution is intended to encourage long-term savings. 1.2 million children are currently eligible for the $1,000 seed funding, and 5 million children have enrolled.
