Standard Chartered considers full control of crypto custody arm as banks embrace digital assets
Standard Chartered is considering buying out minority shareholders in its digital asset custody subsidiary Zodia Custody. SC Ventures, the bank's venture arm, currently holds a majority stake in Zodia Custody. Minority stakes in Zodia Custody are held by SBI, Northern Trust, National Australia Bank, and Emirates NBD. The buyout would consolidate full ownership of Zodia Custody under Standard Chartered. Major banks increasingly offer digital asset custody services as the sector matures. JP Morgan remains one of the few large traditional banks to avoid third-party crypto custody.
