PenCom recruitment scams target personal data via 48-hour urgency windows
Individuals are sharing sensitive personal information and documents with fake secretaries via WhatsApp after being pressured by a 48-hour urgency window. These fraudulent schemes are disguised as job opportunities and are delivered via WhatsApp messages, emails, and direct phone calls. Fraudsters impersonate PenCom officials, including the Director-General of the Commission, to establish credibility. The National Pension Commission (PenCom) issued the warning after scammers increasingly targeted unsuspecting individuals to extract confidential details. PenCom stated that official recruitment processes follow formal, verifiable channels and advised the public to ignore and delete such messages.
