Italy Allocates €50 Million to Restore Public Services in Storm-Hit Regions
Initial assistance for storm victims and the restoration of public services and infrastructure will be funded by €50 million in emergency allocations. The Italian government declared a 12-month state of emergency for Abruzzo, Basilicata, Molise, and Puglia following severe storms and flooding. These funds, drawn from Italy's national emergency fund, are divided as follows: €15 million for Abruzzo, €5 million for Molise, €20 million for Molise, and €10 million for Puglia. The funds were announced by civil protection minister Nello Musumeci during a cabinet meeting at Palazzo Chigi on Thursday evening. The funds are used to finance initial assistance to those affected by storm damage and to restore public services and infrastructure.
