Bitcoin Depot missed a $3.7 million theft for three days
Bitcoin Depot failed to notice that $3.7 million in bitcoin was missing from its business for three days. The attacker moved 54 BTC from company-controlled wallets and employee personal accounts. These funds flowed to the crypto exchange KuCoin. The company reported the loss of 50.9 BTC in an SEC filing, stating the incident occurred on March 23. Onchain research from ZachXBT found theft addresses dating back to March 20. The company is investigating the incident with third-party specialists and cybersecurity experts to reinforce its IT systems.
