A Free Insurance Quote Now Generates a $25 Donation to Local Thurston and Mason County Groups

A local community organization or cause in Thurston and Mason Counties can receive a $25 donation through the Community Bucks program. The donation is triggered by a person requesting a free insurance quote from State Farm Agent Melanie Bakala's office and mentioning the charitable group. Bakala's office makes the contribution regardless of whether the person decides to purchase insurance. The program, which uses marketing outreach dollars to fund local groups, has operated for 14 years. Recipients have included Homes First, Altrusa, the Thurston County Baseball Club, and Paws 4 A Cause. Funds do not need to be directed to a traditional 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity and can be used for any local organization or activity, including students raising money for trips to Washington, D.C.
